My first year was back in 2022; due to my mental state these past years, I restarted again for this year! My hope here is to shed mine skin (well, an attempt at least) and make more artsy friends along the way. This is my Art Fight card for this year:

Kent Magneson is a British-Canadian lad with world of hockey embedded in his bloodstream. Born by a pair of old school hockey enthusiasts; Dexter Magneson and Mellany Bondsman. Living in Solihull for about seven years before migrating to Laval and welcoming a baby brother not too long after.

Name: Kenneth "Kent" Magneson

Nicknames: Kenny (family members), Kenny boy (senior teammates), Brother Kent (brother)

Age: 18-25 years old

Height: 183cm

Weight: 87kg - 95kg

Born: Early 1990s, 27th April

Birthplace/Hometown: Solihull, West Midlands, ENG & Laval, Quebec, CAN

Position: Right defenceman (RD)

Shoots: R/L

Draft: Late 2000s, CHI (131st overall), 4th round, 3rd pick

Teams: Chicago Warhawks, Habitants de Montréal

Favourite teams: Solihull Blaze/Coventry Blaze, Solihull Barons, California Golden Seals, Kingston Frontenacs (EPHL)

Favourite historical matchups: 1985 The Heineken League Division One - Solihull Barons vs Peterborough Pirates, 1972 Team Canada's Summit Series, 1993 Stanley Cup Final

Career:

As player:

  • Bobby Orr is his Cylone Taylor. Main figure he looks up to as a defenceman.
  • Taking in-depth look on Larry Robinson after he got traded to Habitants.
  • An extreme few in younger generation to skilfully utilise straight-blade stick just like pre-60s hockey players complemented with modern skating pace. Thus, he able to shoot with either right or left-handed stick. Preference on right during regulation time; left for overtime or shootout. Changes stick if not penalized within the transition period.
  • Often loses on-ice fight, but he never backed down, overall winning the team's heart.
  • Tend to be the face of the team for media whenever the game result is unfavourable.
  • Used to have winning overall playoffs championship as his biggest life goal. Not anymore after realizing its value partially driven by its scarcity as team-based award in his mind.
  • These days his heart set on utilising part of old school hockey into modern play and daily life as his main life goal, similar to his father.
  • Currently working on to be an aspiration for younger generation of hockey fans.

He develops severe lack of complacency throughout his hockey journey due to seeing his own contribution as purely logical result from rigorous hard work, sometimes with a pinch of luck.

Pre-draft:

  • Does not celebrate his own goal nor assist. He quickly swift back to neutral zone for the next face-off instead.
  • When any teammate scores, he skates away to get some space for stick tapping from the sideline as a celly.

Post-draft/Pro league:

  • Still does not celebrate his own goal. Back to centre red line once finished. Exception on assist (refer below).
  • When any teammate scores, he'll let others celebrate first before joining in later on.

As seasonal coach:

He mentored younger coaches in straight-blade training and some members from his father's club at Laval during high school summer holiday until last off-season with Warhawks. After traded to Habitants, he took off to Solihull's branch during off-season.

Interests:

Music:

Gifted packs of burned CDs from an acquaintance at school. It contained various genres, ranging from post-punk to goth to some post-metal. Few of her picks are:

  • Real Life by Magazine
  • Pink Flag by Wire
  • Gone Fishin' by Flipper
  • Vision on The Wall by The Bizarre Orkeztra
  • Escape With Romeo S/T
  • Company of Justice by Play Dead
  • Always There by The Fact
  • Strange Times by The Chameleons
  • From The Lion's Mouth by The Sound
  • Times of Grace by Neurosis
  • Lvmen S/T

He bought Mayhem's De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, Deathcrush CDs, and Morbid's December Moon (1987 demo release) cassette at a backyard sale as they were few of things that he could find use of there. During a family vacation at London, he found Enter by Russian Circles and Endless Dismal Moan self-titled CD album (2005 release) at a record shop as last stock; even made an emergency copy from it. His familiarity with both post-punk and post-metal making transition into black metal and its variants — melodic and atmospheric — natural for his enjoyment.

Animals:

Bats, especially fruit bats/megabats.

Family members:

  • Dexter Magneson - Own a private senior hockey club. His family is owner of Swivelmann, a Canadian-based sport gear brand that has additional niche gearing toward reviving elements of old school hockey in modern era. Broadening their products and services to British Isles via partnership with Paper Knight. They also has Puck Smash, a biannual hockey magazine that emphasises on hockey veterans, retirees, defunct organizations and the like.

  • Mellany Bondsman - Family member of mass printing press Paper Knight — she specialises in product marketing — that helps Swivelmann to hold solid business at United Kingdom and Ireland. Her biggest contributions are providing aid for UK youth hockey development, establishing in-land telly deal, and being long-term fundraiser for neurology field in local universities. Partnering with Swivelmann, she currently working on international telly deal to broadcast British ice hockey games, starting from Northern America and Canada.

  • Ead Magneson - Younger brother. Played for Solihull Junior Barons. Called up to senior league.

Trivia:

  • He was rocking crew cut (rookie Bobby Orr haircut to be exact) for most of his childhood years. Soon starting to let his hair grow once he attends high school.
  • Often use hockey stick with lighter colour and black tape job unless personal use at home for its old school look.
  • Sometimes taping his stick in black-white pattern for additional aesthetic/style option.
  • Starts his tape job from toe to heel.
  • Does not drink alcoholic beverage like his mother.
  • Both him and his brother have some degree of financial anxiety thus they already lay out their retirement plan way before their debut in professional league with help from their parents.
  • Had an acquaintance at school that often opened her ears for him to babble about hockey and megabats. In exchange, he listened to her alternative musical interests and fashion.
  • As a child, not so fancy on getting grounded as he's so much of an outdoor lad after enough rest.
  • Experimented with corpse paint as a teen.

Note: This biography and character design are subject to change depends on how my story goes. Oh, and NHL-based team in this universe are all parody team, for funsies. =] Initially want to put these at my minisite, but I'm not in the mood for coding as per writing this. X<

Initially had a brief idea where Belle made a bet where Remy need to be at least a decent dancer within short time or something within that line. Him experimenting with makeup kinda a last-minute addition aha haa. Just some rambling here.

After tinkering with the provided template using Piskel, I finally finished my own version of Tiny Pixel Bears by Sylvia. Not enough space for the other wing so I'm just like "Screw this! Let's make it mono-wing ala Sephiroth then." haha.

There's funny story to this piece. Initially, I wanted to draw a mirroring-themed illustration between Gutik and Crosby since their jersey numbers were flipped. So instinctively I looked up his photos for reference and stuff, very shocked when the result said 'not found'. Of course, confused at first but then I realised another possibility... Imagine my shock finding out he actually been traded, even crazier that he had his number same as Crosby! ( ⓛ o ⓛ )

I wish I'm kidding but am not. So yeah my first art idea got kaboom but hey at least he's in a fairly good team he deserves.

Just feeling like drawing one of the Söderblom brothers. Really enjoying a technical match between them whenever the WIngs going against Blackhawks. =]

I drew this about two weeks prior to his comeback to cope with his absence and build up hope for his return soon. So happy that he's finally back on ice during Sharks' latest game with Blackhawks. I know, I know, I know, their games before Olympic break aren't in the best shape, disastrous even. But seeing him playing again after recovering from injury was a huge relief. And he even got himself a score, yippee! ~

Mukh vs Knight. Fav and fav aha haa.

Can't wait for their next game with Flames. Either Cooley or Wolf gonna be there. So hoping for another fav battle ayy.

Belladonna Boudreaux x Remy LeBeau (X-Men Evolution AU)

It's Valentine's Day!!! Felt like nice to post some Ledreaux (combos from their first name are all taken alright =[, also been thinking some silly nickname like 'guil(d)ty' aha haa). Note that I'm not planning much to post shippy stuff here — as I want to focus more on personal web side of things and sports — but some pairings might get exceptions.

My 'about me' page for Neocities used to have some intractability features with marquee resizeable box and hoverable+clickable+draggable images linked to my outer sites. Due to said features not working as intended on mobile I had to axe them then remade the box and chuck out the images; replacing them merely as links on homepage. I do however planning to make a minisite for my - barely touched - OCs so them may or may not had their use in the future idk.

Been thinking of posting some artworks of folks I encountered while web surfing here. Not wanting to limit the pieces to this site exclusively, so I decided to post them elsewhere, namely Tumblr cuz their websites rock! And more people should check them out generally.

The template customisation pretty limiting not gonna lie. Granted it has fonts that I quite like, so I at least can bear managing the blog myself haha. Had to use it since it has an archive system I need that neither of my custom blogskins can support which is important as I have tendency to look back at old art from time to time yea. *Insert I mean it's alright meme* =[
